Harry

March 1st we lost our beloved dog, Harry.  Harry was 16 years old and brought a ton of joy to our home!  In his younger years he loved to chase tennis balls and would literally run for them as long as you could hold out throwing them!

Harry was a rescue dog who, at first, we weren’t sure he was going to fit in with our busy family. He had incurred quite a bit of trauma before coming home with us and it took him a few months to adjust to us as it did for us to adjust to him.  Initially, we thought he was a brown dog when we brought him home but after we bathed him discovered he was a gorgeous white with brown and red flecks and spots on his coat.

Harry enjoyed the evening cocktail hour when the family gathered in the back yard and reflected on what happened during the day. This was a time everyone enjoyed and Harry adapted the nickname “Cocktail” because he would bark when someone got the drinks ready to go outside.

I taught Harry to sing and Oh boy, did he ever sing! I used to collect Hallmark snowmen every year and one year they had one with a dog and snowman that sang Jingle Bells. The dog howled and once Harry learned he could sing and howl he never let up! We ended up leaving that snowman out year round and it still sits in our living room. He even taught Sassy, our Dachshund to sing as well. It literally became a tradition!  God, I miss him!

Harry was quite the traveler too! He loved going to the mountains and when you arrived and he smelled the mountain air he got so very excited!

He also traveled to Washington D.C. to see our son. He went to Georgia, Virginia, and all over Florida with us.  He stayed in Gainesville with our daughter and her husband and played with their dogs.  All of our kids loved Harry!  He had several other nicknames like “Hairball” and “Bugs”.

In 2008, we thought we were going to lose him because he blew a couple of discs in his back. That was a true experience for me as I had to take him to Orlando to a dog spine veterinarian. It experienced an amazing recovery! A few years later, he ate a dog chew that lodged in his intestine tract and had to undergo emergency surgery to remove.  He certainly expended a few lives!

Harry loved his doggie sister, Sassy and his kitty friends, Ms. Kitty and Tebow.  He knew Ms. Kitty ruled the home and he loved to play “beat up” with Tebow!  He was quite a ring leader!  He totally enjoyed stealing leftover cat food! We swore the darn cats left him some intentionally!

Harry loved playing chicken and made the most crazy noise when he flung it back and forth. He loved Gator football and got excited when a touchdown occurred!

As Harry aged his bones became brittle and his leg joints deteriorated thus making it very difficult for him to support his own weight.  It was a very difficult decision to let him go but at the same time heartbreaking to see him suffer.  The vets office were very kind to us and they were also just as upset as we were as Harry had been their patient for several years. There were many tears shed over the loss of him.

There will never be another Harry! I thank God that he gave us the opportunity to have him as part of our family. He is sorely missed! Rest In Peace, Buddy!

February Review

It is hard to believe that March is upon us and spring is just around the corner!  Instead of making this a long post I decided to capture my card projects for February in one post.

I managed to create the following cards for my family members on Valentines Day.

I also made these adorable lip balm holders. They were a big hit!

A Quilted Card

i just have to share this lovely card that I created for a friend of mine during the holidays.  She is an avid quilter and I have just started learning how to quilt.  When I saw the Quilt Builders stamps and dies by Stampin Up I knew I wanted them!  I was thrilled with how this card pieced together and I even added a fabric button and embossed the background to enhance the overall look! I plan to use this set over again and have several ideas for other seasons.

Happy New Year 2018!

What a year 2017 was for me!  I started a new career in mental health, I got a new sewing/quilt machine and a new Scan n’ Cut machine!  Other excitement in our family life includes welcoming our new grandson and my husband retired.  It seems like the year was just getting started when it ended.

I am really looking forward to a fantastic year and plan to incorporate more crafting in my life.  I am new to sewing and managed to sew seven stockings for Christmas gifts to our grown kids and grandson.  I was very pleased with my first sewing project to say the least!  Which one do you like the best?

I also created stocking themed themed cards to go with their stockings.  The kids were stunned when they realized I made them.

Since I was busy sewing, I did not make but a few handmade cards to send out.  Basically, I ran out of time.  Here are a few cards that I created.

For New Years my husband and I had dinner at a local winery.  It was very pleasant and I made some really neat New Year treats and cut outs.  Check these out!

IMG_0593.JPGToday my hubby got me these beautiful flowers to start the year off fresh!

IMG_0599.JPGI am going to make a Southern fried chicken dinner today and watch football with my sweetie!  I even made a homemade chocolate pie!

Have a very Happy and Healthy New Year!

Sunshine!

We can all use a little bit of sunshine and a fun day at the beach.  My family and I spent a few weekends this summer at the beach and had a wonderful time.  To commemorate our trip I made this card for my son’s girlfriend as a token of fun!  I used My Favorite Thing stamps and dies to create this card.

Doesn’t this card just scream fun?

Have a beach, sunshiny day!

Altered Cigar Box

I so enjoy taking simple items and putting my own spin on them! I altered this cigar box into a treasure keeper for my son. I didn’t want to deviate too much from the integrity of the box itself. So, the only paper I added was in the very inside bottom.  I used a velvet paper as I thought it to be more appropriate and smoother.  The rest of the box I used several Tim Holtz and 7 Gypsy items I already had in my stash of goodies.  Take note of certain significant items I added. I chose the bingo chip of 84 to represent the year he was born. On the bottom of the box I added mini cards with “Jer” (nickname) and 25 for day he was born. Check out the feet that I added to the bottom of the box!  I hope he enjoys using this box as much as I enjoyed making it!  Also, need to mention that my husband actually helped put door handle on front of box. Needed a bit more help using some of his tools.

Elfie Selphie

i am catching up on my blog posts for this past summer. Check out this stinkin cute card I created for my son’s birthday in June.  Let me reiterate that my son is 33 but, he just loves the fun and quirky cards I make for him!  Just because he is grown doesn’t mean he can’t have fun!

Anyway, this card was created using Lawn Fawn’s Elfie Selfie images and dies. I added the embossing to the frames to give it some texture. I adore how all the animals appear to come to life on this card.

What type of card do you like to receive on your birthday?

Artfully yours,

Let’s Drink Wine & Talk……..

I just love this card that get’s right to the point!  I created this card using Unity stamps image.  I embossed the image to make it pop and used an embossed background to add texture.  This is one of those cards you give to your friends who enjoy relaxing with a little Piot!

This makes me want to head to the hot tub with my own glass grapes! Enjoy your day!

A Little Birdie!

Earlier this summer I created this card and tag using Tim Holtz Crazy Birds stamp and die set.  My husband was the lucky recipient of these since they went with the them of his gifts. He received a Droll Yankee bird feeder from me that keeps the squirrels out of the seeds. Our friends made him a bat house which is great for the environment.     He will enjoy these in our backyard that we have been changing into a bird and butterfly sanctuary.

Altered Stars

I have been busy this summer and created these altered stars using the Bo Bunny patriotic kit.  The stars are wooden and graduate in size.  These were a lot of fun to put together and will be displayed in our home proudly!
